The “Once in Seventy Years” Tekhelet Marine Tour – called by the Jerusalem Post on the 50 top reasons to live in Israel – combines Science and Torah in a journey to obtain the coveted biblical blue dye known as tekhelet. The tour takes people into the sea to snorkel for the hillazon (the ancient creature used to make the dye), following which participants then perform the actual process of dyeing tekhelet from the hillazon extract – just as did the ancients.
