FIDEL

The arrival of the Ethiopian community is an important milestone in Israel’s history but the journey towards true arrival – full integration into Israeli society, is an ongoing challenge.  The Fidel (‘alpha-bet’ in Amharic) Association has been meeting this challenge since 1997. FIDEL’s vision is of a socially and economically integrated Ethiopian community, proud of its unique identity, sharing strengths with Israeli society and partaking in its leadership. FIDEL helps youth overcome obstacles and succeed by providing vital programs in and after-school shaping the next generation of Ethiopian teens. Doors that were once closed, have been opened. New opportunities in the army, higher education and key positions in Israeli society are now in reach.
